Chris Morel, award-winning Plein Air Painter, is returning to the Berkshires for one three-day workshop on
June 13-15, 2023.

Chris came to the Berkshires for two workshops in June of 2022. Those of us who were fortunate to attend one or both found him to be an excellent teacher. We worked him hard sometimes doing two demos a day plus all the individual attention he showed the attendees.

​The workshop is for all skill levels from beginner to professional. We will work outside on location, weather permitting, starting, and completing both a morning and an afternoon session. In case of inclement weather indoor studio space will be provided. A material list will be provided.

Chris will start the workshop with a quick demonstration highlighting processes and techniques of plein air painting and then students will get started on their pieces. The focus generally and individually is on helping students improve from their current skill level to the next. We will touch on all aspects of painting outside: from choosing subject matter, composition, value, color mixing, and application. Individual attention is given to each student as he circulates to everyone at their easel throughout the day.

All you will need to bring is a great attitude, and a desire to learn to paint from nature.

Chris Morel works out of Taos County New Mexico. Originally from Maryland, Chris graduated with a BFA from Towson University. He made his living using his art training as a graphic artist and illustrator until 1988 when he started his pursue his career as a full-time painter. In 1994 he moved to Taos and opened a gallery. Today he is represented by several Western galleries and has many awards including an American Impressionist Society Best in show and Plein Air Magazine covers are amongst his achievements.
